SUBJECT : VACANCY IN THE OFFICE OF THE PROVOST- MASTERCARD FOUNDATION SCHOLARS PROGRAM



The Office of the Provost- Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program has an opening for the position of Mental Health and Psychosocial Counselor , above grade 12.  Since this provides an opportunity for promotion from within, please circulate this information and/or post it in your area of jurisdiction so that those interested and having the minimum qualifications may apply not later than May 7, 2024.

 
I. Basic Functions:
AUB is seeking a Mental Health and Psychosocial Counselor to support the needs of Scholars of the Mastercard Foundation. The Psychologist will be based at the counseling center coordinating closely with the Mastercard Foundation Scholars program team.
Provides comprehensive professional counseling services to students to maximize their personal and professional effectiveness. Duties include mental health counseling and support, group and individual counseling, behavioral change consultation, series of group presentations and workshops, providing psychological support and training to scholars on various related topics.

N.B. This position is on a contractual basis and supported by the Mastercard Foundation Grant at AUB.
 
II. Minimum Requirements:
  1. MA in Clinical Psychology.
  2. Must have an official license to practice the profession.
  3. At least three years counselling experience. Previous experience with young adults and in an academic setting as counselor or support personnel is an asset.
  4. Motivated to work and actively engage with university students.
  5. Understands health holistically: physical, mental, social, spiritual, and academic.
  6. Pleasant, engaging, empathic, non-judgmental.
  7. Inter-culturally competent.
  8. Comfortable and competent to work in groups and collaborate with different people.
  9. Excellent report writing skills.
  10. Flexible enough to step out of the role of traditional counselor in order, such as to give trainings, and workshops, engage students in social settings, and to engage in outreach activities.
  11. Very good knowledge of English and of Arabic is required.
  12. Ability to work under pressure.
  13. Must possess time management skills.
