The Office of Research has an opening for the position of Research Capacity Strengthening Officer , above grade 12.  Since this provides an opportunity for promotion from within, please circulate this information and/or post it in your area of jurisdiction so that those interested and having the minimum qualifications may apply not later than November 22, 2024.

 
I. Basic Functions:
The Research Capacity Strengthening Officer is responsible for developing, implementing, and enhancing capacity strengthening programs and activities aimed at improving the research skills and capabilities of AUB faculty, research staff, and students. The officer plays a pivotal role in organizing seminars, workshops, training sessions, and other initiatives that build institutional research capacity, promote best practices, and foster an environment of continuous learning and development. The officer will build on capacity strengthening in both grants management skills and in research methodology.
 
II. Minimum Requirements:
  1. A Master’s degree in a relevant field such as education, research management, development studies, or organizational development. A Ph.D. is desirable but not required.
  2. 5 to 7 years of experience in capacity strengthening programming or training, preferably in a higher education or research institution.
  3. Proven experience in developing, delivering, and evaluating training programs.
  4. Experience in working with researchers, faculty, or academic staff is highly preferred.
  5. Strong project management and organizational skills.
  6. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage and motivate diverse stakeholders.
  7. Ability to design and implement effective capacity strengthening activities tailored to different skill levels.
  8. Experience with monitoring and evaluation tools and techniques.
  9. Proficiency in using e-learning platforms and technology-enhanced learning tools is an asset.
  10. Strong analytical skills and the ability to identify and respond to evolving training needs.
